Capt. Jerry Sersen has been repairing rods and reels at Flying Point Marina since 2001. Not a tackle shop. No bait, no licenses. Just a bench, reels that come back working, and lures made by hand.
Worth saying plainly, because people turn up expecting a bait shop and leave disappointed. That is not what this is.
The tackle shops nearby will sort you out for those. Bring us the reel when it stops working.

Since 2001
Reel Perfection started in 2001, when Jerry Sersen bought the rod and reel repair business from the Fishin’ Shop on Route 40 in White Marsh. He has been at the bench ever since, and earned his U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license along the way in 2007.
Most places will tell you to throw it out and buy a new one. A good reel is worth keeping, and most of them are fixable by somebody who knows what he is looking at.
Bring it in and you get a straight answer on what is wrong, what it costs, and whether it is worth doing. If it is not worth doing, you will be told that too.
Rockfish, largemouth and a pair of snakeheads out of the upper bay. The man working on your reel knows what you are asking it to do.

Not sure why another reviewer reported that this place doesn’t exist. It certainly does. It shares its location with Flying Point Marina. Jerry is still there fixing reels doing an excellent job.
We are inside Flying Point Marina on Flying Point Road, off Pulaski Highway near Abingdon. Same address as The Island, the waterfront restaurant. Get yourself to The Island and you have found us.
Look for this sign. We are the building at the far left end of the lot. It is a shared building, we are the left side toward the front.
